Da so Američani upravičeno jezni na Wall Street pravi Paul Krugman. Finančna industrija je najprej povzročila gospodarsko krizo, potem jo je država reševala z davkoplačevalskim denarjem. Zdaj, ko je gospodarstvo še globoko v depresiji, si finančniki spet izplačujejo velikanske nagrade. Toda to nista edina greha Wall Streeta. Že pred finančno krizo in reševanjem z davkoplačevalskim denarjem je finančna industrija počela stvari, ki so bile s socialnega vidika nepravične ali celo uničujoče. To počne še zdaj.

Evro je na deviznih trgih pod pritiskom, poleg Grčije pa plačilna nesposobnost grozi še nekaterim državam evroskupine. Reševati Grčijo in tvegati, da bo treba reševati tudi druge in da se bodo davkoplačevalci bolj stabilnih držav začeli spraševati, zakaj gre njihov denar za dolgove drugih ali tvegati zaostrovanje znotraj skupine in trdnost valute? Eden od možnih izhodov iz dilem je nadzorovana, zmerna inflacija, ki bi postopoma znižala gore javnofinančnih dolgov, piše Spiegel. Toda inflacija bi razvrednotila tudi dobroimetja varčevalcev.

Manj kot 100 dni je do podnebne konference v Københavnu, kjer je predviden dogovor o zmanjšanju izpustov toplogrednih plinov do leta 2020. Besedilo, o katerem naj bi se dogovorili, ima še vedno 199 strani, v istem obdobju pred Kjotom je enak dokument imel le 30 strani. Je to razlog za paniko, sprašuje izvedenec bruseljskega inštituta CEPS Christian Egenhofer.

Corporate Media Refuses to Report on Basel-II
Support Your Favorite Alternate News Sites!
Today is the end of the U.S. fiscal year and tomorrow is the start of a new one. I’m not sure what that means but I think one thing is that the “books” have to be made public.
It is also the final deadline for U.S. banks to be compliant with the Basel-II banking accords. Perhaps compliant European banks (and Asian banks?) will give yet another extension but at some point they will be forbidden by the agreement from doing business with non-compliant banks.
That’s really what the big bailout rush was about, trying to clean up the books of the U.S. banks after years of financial crimes and fraud by Paulson, Bush, Cheney and other crooks at the highest levels.
I am completely astonished the mainstream media and commentators STILL refuse to even MENTION the Basel-II agreements and the deadline for compliance. This is TOTAL SUPPRESSION by media corporations which are now totally absorbed into the U.S.S.G. (the United States Secret Government). As any serious web surfer knows there is NO FREE PRESS in America.
Why are the Basel-II agreements being completely covered up? The very topic appears to be BANNED from U.S. media. These agreements try to address some of the hanky panky that is bringing down the financial systems. Maybe Basel-II is not perfect, I don’t know, but it is something. I think Paulson et. al. are so terrified because the new transparency and “on-the-books” requirements of Basel-II will reveal some of their crimes.
It’s not about the “mortgages,” it’s about Basel-II, stupid! It’s about stopping crimes!
In the face of this obvious censorship and suppression of Basel-II by the Orwellian mainstream media I think it is a good time for all readers to contemplate the importance of alternate news sites like this one and to consider chipping in support as much as possible, to keep them alive and to say “stuff it” to the MSM. The Internet is all we have left. It’s up to the people to keep building a “news” system that tells the truth.
Not a single news program I have watched has mentioned Basel-II. Not a single congress person has mentioned it. Paulson has said nothing and yet he is supposed to be Secretary of the Treasury!
Yet Basel-II is real (just as Basel-I was real) and most European banks are already compliant (I think, I have read). That ALL THIS is happening because of some “bad” mortgages is ridiculous. The crooks in highest office and the secret government DEPEND on your being ignorant and uninformed.
So I am suggesting that all readers here consider donating whatever you can to your favorite alternate news sites. That is how we continue building our own PEOPLE’S news system, uncensored and free. Both STA (Surfing the Apocalypse) and RMN (Rumor Mill News) are periodically at the edge of not being able to pay bandwidth bills, a situation easy to correct if every reader would kick in $5 a month. That’s way less than you would pay for daily newspaper delivery, but you will get information the newspaper would not dare to deliver.
Naturally I favor the above two sites, but I really want to say donate to YOUR favorite alternate sites. They are all needed. This is the best response to outrage over censorship, suppression and lies in the mainstream corporate media. Support the publishing of articles BANNED from TV and newspapers.
Personally I prefer the forum format of STA and RMN because there is constant updating going on throughout the day. Drudge and RawStory type sites put up a few new articles each day and then let them sit there for DAYS. Nothing much changes over a day. Would you buy a newspaper if half the stories in it were also printed in yesterday’s paper? Or the day before? Plus every story on a forum site streams off eventually and into the archives, all searchable.
I’ll ask Theresa and Raye to reply to this post giving donation details for both sites so that the information will be correct. If ever the world needed truth-telling alternate news it is now. The refusal of the MSM to even MENTION Basel-II just shows the need for such sites. When one considers Basel-II the whole “bailout” panic and rush suddenly becomes much clearer. It is close to treason on the part of MSM to be covering this up!
